The Choir Goes to Nashville

Tennessee Capitol  Each spring, the high school choir takes a trip just for fun.  Last year they went to Disney.  This year they went to the ultimate choir destination - Nashville.  If you are at all interested in music, there are few better places to go.  Anna joined in the trip that involved leaving the school at 11 PM on March 13 for an overnight bus ride to Nashville. The choir trips are all about minimizing any missed school and maximizing the amount of time to enjoy wherever they are going.  Hence - the overnight bus rides (not to mention it is easy to keep track of a bunch of high school students if they are confined to the bus).  After an 11 PM departure, they arrived on Thursday morning in Nashville to a full day.  Highlights of the trip included: A tour of downtown Nashville Visiting honky tonks and enjoying endless good bands A tour of RCA studios A line dancing lesson A visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame (this included a special T...

Theresa Marks a Half Century....and a Choir Concert

 Theresa celebrated her 50th birthday on March 1.  This is a major milestone for several reasons (eligibility for AARP, a new box to check for "age range" on questionnaires, eligibility for early retirement if she works at a Federal agency that offers the option).  Rather than a big party, she opted for a series of things she enjoys doing (and is happy to still be able to do).  Here are some of the highlights: The festivities kicked off a couple of weeks before when she convinced her friend Joy to go roller skating.  As luck would have it, on Sunday nights it is adult only and retro music (80s and 90s).  That was fun - and no one was injured.
