The Choir Goes to Nashville
Tennessee Capitol |
The choir trips are all about minimizing any missed school and maximizing the amount of time to enjoy wherever they are going. Hence - the overnight bus rides (not to mention it is easy to keep track of a bunch of high school students if they are confined to the bus). After an 11 PM departure, they arrived on Thursday morning in Nashville to a full day. Highlights of the trip included:
- A tour of downtown Nashville
- Visiting honky tonks and enjoying endless good bands
- A tour of RCA studios
- A line dancing lesson
- A visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame (this included a special Taylor Swift Educational Exhibit)
- Attending a show at the Grand Ole Opry (Anna proclaimed this her favorite event of the trip)
- A day at Dollywood amusement park, where Anna upped her roller coaster game.
The exhausted crew left Dollywood Saturday evening and lobbied for a stop at the world's largest Bucky's (this is the most amazing roadside travel center ever) before taking the bus overnight bus back to Virginia. They arrived home at 3 AM Sunday morning.
Anna had pictures of some shows and restaurants but no group photos yet (maybe for a future update. A big thanks to the choir director, Mrs. Rowan, for her willingness to take a bunch of teenagers on an ambitious trip with great music themes.
