Happy Easter 2025!

Easter dinner with Fefzi & Klara
We kept our Easter tradition this year, which is every year is different. After past years with various spring break location, this year we enjoyed a warm spring day on the deck with friends (thank you Klara and Fefzi for hosting) and a delicious lamb dinner.  Anna was home for the weekend and made the Easter bread and Theresa made lamb cake.  It was also Klara's birthday on Sunday, so there was also a regular birthday cake and ice cream to celebrate.

A note on making the Easter bread.  This is a labor-intensive, all-day effort.  Aunt Mary is the master of the Easter bread.  Anna took on the challenge, albeit on a teenager schedule.  This meant not starting the process until about 2 PM when she woke up.  It is unclear when she finished, but it was likely around midnight (Joe and Theresa had long sense gone to bed).  It was ready on Easter morning.

In other news:

  • Joe found a new lecture season at George Mason University on bridge design that he attended.  If you have a question about bridges, be sure to ask him.
  • Theresa decided to join the festival choir for holy week masses.  This was a one-time commitment and was a lot of fun.  She did learn the importance of having reading glasses and water on hand - especially when it is an incense day at church.
  • Theresa got a nice surprise when she received a call from a former co-worker of her mom's, Betty.  Betty worked at the Paulding hospital for a number of years.  She now lives in Iowa and was on a tour of Washington with her husband and son.  As fate would have it, Betty contacted Theresa right at the time that Theresa was getting off the train 2 blocks from her tour site.  Theresa was able to detour up to say hello.
  • Less than 3 more weeks of school for Anna until she is done for the semester and her first year of college. She will be headed home to work this summer.

Happy Spring!
