Where did October go?

It is Halloween week!  Where did the month of October go?  What did we do?  Here are a few highlights (at least what we remember):
Anna ready for murder-mystery

  • Anna's first choir concert was October 17 as part of MAD music day (noting that she goes to James Madison high school).  The choir and orchestra director team up and host all of the elementary and middle school choir and orchestra students from the feeder schools.  It is a great recruitment tool so that the kids see what they can do in high school.  Anna did four concerts that day.  It was really a treat to watch as this is the one joint choir/orchestra show of the year.  Our neighbor, Mrs. Latimer, joined in for the show.  You can watch Anna perform Sunny Side of the Street and The Call with her choir.

  • For the first time since 2009, new carpet was installed in the family room and basement.  This required lots of moving and subsequent discovery of items forgotten about.  Anna was the least efficient moving items as she never made it past the photo albums.  We were expecting a team of installers, but the team was actually a husband and wife.  Let's just say they were clearly experienced. The carpet looks great!
  • Grandma had her third (and hopefully last) shoulder surgery on October 16.  This time it was only an overnight in the hospital.  She is home and starts therapy this week.  Theresa stopped back for a visit to lend a hand for a few days.  No photos (at least that grandma wants published) but Theresa and Grandpa stopped at the new ice cream place in Paulding one night.

Anna kicked off the Halloween festivities over the weekend with a murder-mystery party hosted by one of her friends.  It was an Italian-mafia themed party, and everyone came dressed in their character.  Of course, the best part of the nigh was the Italian food.  She had a great time, even if she did not figure out the murderer.
  • Benny is settling in and is always up for a car ride and a walk.  Today he enjoyed joining Joe and Theresa at Manassas battlefield for a beautiful fall walk.

Anna and Theresa are still finalizing their Halloween costumes.  Stay tuned for that one later!
