Pandemic Week 139: A Reunion, A College Visit & A Birthday

Joe & High School Friends
Joe made it to New York the weekend of November 12 to attend his first ever high school class reunion.  It wasn't the first time his class held a reunion, but rather the first time he attended (you can guess how many years).  After some last-minute travel scrambling thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Nicole making its way up the coast, he caught a flight to Long Island, where Aunt Mary picked him up.  He had a great time catching up with old friend as did Aunt Mary, who noted most of his friends had a sibling in her class.  Name tags were one of the most important features of the event.  It was a great time catching up with friends and seeing Mary and Loren.

Anna at JMU
While Joe was in New York, Anna and Theresa went on the first college visit to James Madison University (JMU).  JMU was having an open house on November 12.  After touring the campus (it is beautiful and located in the Shenandoah valley) along with overviews of the nursing school and fine arts program, Anna concluded that it was nice but not "the one."  This could have something to do with the fact that the football stadium is practically the center of campus, and everyone enthusiastically talked about the football team (Anna considers it a positive if the school does NOT have a football team).  It was a beautiful day to tour the campus begin the process of seeing the possibilities.

In other news of the week:

  • Theresa enjoyed meeting up with long-time Ohio friends Dave & Allen who were in town for the Ohio State-Maryland game on November 19.
  • Anna started her new job, which is babysitting for a couple of neighborhood families after school.  Anna picks the kids up after school (she walks by on her way home from school) and works for a couple of hours.  Apparently, they kids are asking her when she will get a car so she can drive them.
  • Grandma celebrated her birthday on November 20 (this also happens to be President Biden's birthday).  Grandpa took her out for a nice dinner, and they enjoyed an ice cream cake.  She is considering her new shoulder part of her birthday gift.

Happy Thanksgiving week!

Happy Birthday Grandma!
