Pandemic Week 97: Happy Birthday to Joe & Girl Scout Cookies

Happy Birthday Joe!
This week marked Martin Luther King Day along with another major celebration - Joe's birthday on January 18.  We decided to do something crazy to celebrate and went out to a restaurant - and ate there.  Joe picked an Italian restaurant we heard about and decided to mix it up on a Tuesday night.  Unfortunately, Joe also had a bit of a stomach bug and really did not get to enjoy the dinner or cake afterwards (he was out of commission Wednesday & Thursday).  We decided to try again on Friday with an Italian meal (including cannoli) from a local Vienna restaurant (this time we did carry-out).  On the plus side, Joe got two birthday dinners (even though he only enjoyed one).

The other big news of the weekend was the arrival of Girl Scout cookies.  This is a much more subdued event from earlier years when we use to warehouse 1,200 boxes of cookies at our house.  Thanks to on-line ordering and direct ship option, the whole thing is very efficient.  Anna had deliveries completed on Saturday.  We even managed to get rid of many of the extra that we ordered.  A big thanks to everyone who ordered cookies from Anna!

Anna is enjoying a long weekend since she had Friday and Monday off school for the end of the quarter.  She is planning her classes for her junior year (time flies).  In the meantime, we continue to cross our fingers that school stays in session as more and more teachers call in sick.  Many surrounding schools have been forced to go virtual.  We will see what this week brings.
