Pandemic Week 66: Happy Father's Day

Father's Day at the National Arboretum
After a glorious first week of summer vacation with temperatures in the upper 70s, we celebrated Father's Day in a typical DC summer way - hot, humid and temperatures in the 90s.  Joe enjoyed a grilled chicken dinner on Saturday night (we had plans for Sunday), a trip to the National Arboretum, some gifts, and the grand finale of Ms. Be's 75th birthday party.    We enjoyed a huge buffet of Vietnamese food in her backyard, which she has turned into a garden paradise.  It looked like  a garden café setting.  As always, Ms. Be out-did herself for her own party.  In addition to celebrating, other events of the week included the following:

  • Anna had her first day of babysitting last Monday (an 8-year old boy and a 5-year old girl).  She declared herself exhausted after day 1.
  • Theresa  got an unexpected day off on Friday when the new Juneteenth Federal holiday was signed into law on Thursday.  It caused quite a scramble at work as everyone thought it would be effective in 2022.
  • The first swim meet of the season was held on Saturday.  While the team lost, Anna placed 3rd in breaststroke and her relay team won their race in dramatic fashion (Anna swam butterfly in the relay).
  • Anna started her on-line PE course, which lasts for 6 weeks.  Both she and Theresa are counting down the days.

Happy Father's Day!
