Pandemic Week 51: Back to School...a little

No Poses for School
Back to school arrived at last on March 2!  Anna started back two days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday) for in-person instruction.  Students with last names A-L attend on Tuesday-Wednesday and M-Z are on Thursday and Friday.  This past week was only freshmen and seniors with everyone else returning this coming week.  There were lots of protocols in place, including desks in the cafeteria spaced 6 feet apart and all pointing in one direction.  We are wondering if Anna's high school friends will forever be from the first half of the alphabet.  Anna was thrilled to go back and had some swim team friends in her classes and lunch group.

The other big event for the week was the start of her Jammers tech class.  The Vienna Jammers instructor decided to offer a class to train students on how to produce music videos and virtual concerts (a brilliant move on his part as he can train kids to produce all of the materials).  Anna was excited to sign up for this class, which kicked off on Wednesday night.  There are nine students and the plan is for them to produce "The Big Jam" at the end of the season.  Stay tuned for details on this one.

Other items for the week included:

  • Anna helped neighbor Aidan bake chocolate chip
cookies for his home economics project (this involved masks and social distancing so she could instruct him on what to do).  Aidan declare it the first time he had cooked on his own.  The cookies were a big success, although Anna had to run the mixer.
  • Theresa & Anna bundled up for a Saturday afternoon meet-up on the Vienna town green with Petra and her mom.
  • Joe continued his battles with the phone (if anyone gets a call from a mysterious number form "Centreville, VA," fear not....it is us)
  • Anna & Theresa made it out for another Sunday mass at a local parish thanks to a sign-up

We are looking forward to another week of school....and warmer weather.  Happy March!
