Grandma, Anna & Grandpa |
Christmas at the Virginia Fagella household, like many families, has its traditions. We attend Christmas Eve mass at 5 PM, where Anna sings in the choir. We light the luminaries, along with the rest of our neighbors, on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We have a seafood dinner on Christmas Eve (this year it was scallops with a side of linguini and clam sauce). We open one present each on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is usually quiet with lounging around, opening gifts, calling family members and watching Christmas movies. Since the weather was so nice, we enjoyed the Christmas lights at Meadowlark Gardens in the evening. Our other tradition is leaving the day after Christmas to visit family. This year's destination: Ohio.
Fortunately for us, Ohio was experiencing a record warm Christmas so there was no need to worry about the snow. We flew into Columbus with the first stop at Uncle Tim's for a late Christmas dinner. After juggling work schedules this was the best day for everyone to get together. Grandma & Grandpa arrived at Uncle Tim's complete with all the food and holiday place settings (that's right...Grandma brought her own dishes). Uncle Rod and Courtney joined everyone for a nice meal followed by gifts. Grandma got a new phone case, which she was a bit disappointed with....until she realized there was a new phone to go with it. Grandpa got a new GPS for his car (he does not have a smart phone). We had a nice evening and enjoyed getting together.

Anna & Aidyn |
We spent the rest of the weekend in Paulding at Grandma and Grandpa's place. Anna and Theresa were able to help Grandma set up her new phone as well as Grandpa's GPS. Joe took care of some IT issues and gave Grandpa perhaps the best gift of all - Nomorobo...a way to stop robo calls. We enjoyed lots of good food. Unfortunately we watched Ohio State lose to Clemson (Grandma may need therapy). It was rather fitting that gray skies and rain hung over Ohio on Sunday.
It was a relaxing weekend and great to catch up with everyone. A big thanks to Grandma and Grandpa as well as Uncle Tim for hosting us. Merry Christmas!
