Spring Break in Mexico!

On the beach in Mexico
Each year at spring break time, we debate doing something different.  This year, we decided to be different.....and try a different resort in Mexico.

Right now, we are really hoping that the relationship with Mexico does not deteriorate because we really like to vacation there!  We can get a short, direct flight.  The weather is beautiful.  The people are nice.  The food is great.  The beaches are lovely.  What more could we want?

Our experiment with a different resort went well.  The food was excellent.  The pools were great.  The entertainment was fun and included everything from dancing to circus acrobats one night.  We were also able to enjoy other activities, including biking into the local town one day (Theresa was concerned about kidnappings, having read the travel warnings, but everyone made it back to the resort unscathed).  We also were able to kayak, which was fun.  One thing Theresa wanted to try was taking the Hobie Cat out for a sail.  She convinced Joe to try it with her, but Anna decided she would rather hang at the pool.  This was a strategic mistake as the only one of the three that had any idea of how to sail was Anna, thanks to girl scout camp.  Let's just say this turned out to be a 10 minute trip as it quickly became apparent that neither Joe nor Theresa had any idea what they were doing and really did not want to drift out to sea.  Actually, they couldn't even get away from the shore.  Anna decided to watch....and take lots of pictures (she thought this was all pretty funny).  Better luck next time.
As far as the sailors got....

One of the major lessons of the trip for Anna was the importance of reapplying sunscreen throughout the day.  Despite the warnings, particularly from Dad, she was not as diligent.  Let's just say she came back very red....and shed a layer of skin.  Lessons learned for the future.

It was a fun a relaxing week...always a nice getaway for everyone.  Viva Mexico!  We hope we will be able to get back in next year.
