An Olympic Event at Camp Grandma & Grandpa
Grandma, Grandpa, Aidyn & Anna |
This year's scheduling challenges meant that Anna's parents would need to drive her half way to Ohio for a handoff to her grandparents. After studying the map, Theresa determined that Pittsburgh was the halfway point and a good weekend road trip. Grandpa, who was determined not to get lost, programmed two GPS, had one set of printed google map directions as well as a print-out of directions to the hotel. They made it. It was a beautiful weekend for a visit and we enjoyed a picnic dinner of delicious Polish pierogies a local park followed by some ice cream. The next day Anna and the grandparents headed for Ohio while Theresa and Joe enjoyed touristing around Pittsburgh.
Anna enjoyed a week of eating lots of treats from Grandma and watching the Olympic coverage (way more than Mom would have let her). Her big event of the week (and early birthday present from Grandma) was getting her ears pierced. She also got to do some shopping with Grandma (always fun) and took many bike rides around town (no helmet) with Grandpa. Grandpa, noting that Anna rides really fast, was informed by Anna that she is use to riding up hills and needs to peddle fast to make it. This is not an issue in Paulding, OH. When not riding bikes, Anna enjoyed riding the tractor lawnmower with Grandpa (she is a pretty good driver) and riding in Great Grandpa's 1965 Dodge truck (no seatbelts in that one). There is also a rumor that Anna was allowed to ride in the front seat of Grandma's car because "the law in Ohio is different." Anna was living dangerously!
Mom and Dad flew in Saturday and Uncle Tim and cousin Aidyn arrived Sunday. Anna and Aidyn had a great time hanging out - especially using the walkie talkies while riding bikes. As always, Anna had a great time with her grandparents. A big thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for a fun week!
