Celebrating Aunt Lucy & Aunt Terri's Wedding

Aunt Terri & Aunt Lucy
Anna and family left the rainy and stormy July 4th weather in Washington (sort of symbolic given the election year) and headed north to sunny Massachusetts for the holiday weekend.  The occasion:  celebrating the wedding of Aunt Lucy and Terri.

Since it was a holiday weekend, the first challenge was finding a dog sitter for Storm. Actually, since this is our first family dog the entire process of figuring out what to do was new.  Many of those that had offered to help were out of town, but fortunately our neighbor had a great recommendation.  Storm got a mini-vacation with Sam & Ivy the dog sitters.  He was also joined by our neighbor's dog, so he had a good time.  With Storm in good hands, it was off to Massachusetts.

It was definitely a family reunion with most of the Fagellas together along with their cousins from New Hampshire making the trip.  Anna and family made the drive on July 3 and managed to meet up with Aunt Mary and James at a rest stop in Connecticut.  Anna was all too happy to hop in the car with them for the rest of the ride.  After a quick stop at Aunt Lucy's house, we headed to the bed and breakfast farmhouse up the road were we were staying, along with Aunt Mary, Aunt Loren, and Cousin Margaret.  We then headed across the border to Vermont for a cookout at Uncle Tom and Aunt Dot's place, where we also met up with Uncle John, Aunt Yvonne and Deborah.

The big adventure for the evening was a walk to the lake down the road from Uncle Tom's house.  Actually it was a peaceful walk for some but a bigger adventure for the city folk (who shall remain nameless) who felt they may be on the verge of being attacked by wild animals at any moment as we walked through the woods.  Now, it is probably also safe to assume that if the country folks were walking in New York City, they would probably fear they would be attacked at any moment as well, albeit by robbers.  The view was worth the walk (well for most).  The biggest hazard was tripping on a tree root or stepping in poison ivy.  After the wilderness adventure, we were treated to to a great cookout by Tom and Dot.  It was a fun evening and Anna had a great time hanging out with Deborah and James.

July 4th was a spectacular weather day.  We started the day with a big family breakfast (Anna sampled absolutely everything on the table and was quite impressed) at the B&B.  The wedding was at 11:45 followed by a barbecue and dancing outdoors at the facility.  It was a fun afternoon.  Anna quickly made herself known to the DJ and began requesting songs to keep the dancing going  (first request was "YMCA").  In between dancing, she hung out at the college kid table with her cousins and their friends.  At the end of the afternoon, the party moved to Lucy and Terri's house.  Since it was warm, Anna and Joe joined Luke, Andrew and their friends for a swim in the river behind their house.  All was well until they returned and Anna locked the keys in the trunk of the car.  Since the spare keys were in Virginia, this created a problem.  After some googling around, James found a video on how to unlock your car using your IPhone and a key at another location.  Our neighbor Sue went to our house to get the keys and tried to use her IPhone to unlock the car all while a large group of people gathered to see if it would work.  It didn't and Terri called AAA, who arrived in 30  minutes.  Crisis resolved.  We are still planning to try the IPhone trick, but in the meantime we will bring the extra set of keys next time.  That night we returned to the B&B and collapsed in bed following a busy day.

After one more great breakfast the following day with our B&B family members, we headed back to Virginia (which turned out to be a VERY long trip).  he most excited person about the return home was Storm, who was VERY happy to see Anna. It was a great celebration and fun catching up with all of the family members.  Congratulations to Lucy and Terri!

Editors note:  at publication time, the author was still awaiting better photos from James, who served as photographer for the family.  When photos arrive, this post will updated accordingly.
