Vacation at Grandma and Grandpa's

Grandma, Grandpa, Anna & Aidyn on the train
The last week of July marked Anna's favorite vacation of the year:  a week in Ohio at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  As always, Grandma and Grandpa had a bunch of fun activities planned.  The fun for the week included:
  • A trip to JoAnn Fabrics with Grandma and making some bags for Anna's friends
  • Learning to drive great grandpa's riding lawn mower (otherwise known as the club cadet)
  • Driving the kids John Deer tractor around (despite the fact that she barely fits on it)
  • Picking green beans with Grandpa
  • Riding in the 1965 Dodge truck with Grandpa (no seatbelts....or air conditioning)
  • Bike riding
  • Lots of ice cream treats

The highlight of the week was the Friday visit to Cedar Point amusement park on Lake Erie, better known as "the Rollercoaster Capital of the World."  Mom and Dad flew in and picked up cousin Aidyn to join in the festivities.  It should be noted that the roller coaster lover in the group at this point was Grandma, so she needed to convert someone else.  It will come as no surprise that Anna immediately was on board.  Grandma took Anna and Aidyn on their first roller coaster  - the Mine Ride.  Anna came running off yelling "that was SO AWESOME!"  Aidyn was not quite as excited.  The rest of the day, Anna and Aidyn rode all sorts of large, spinning rides and managed to tackle another smaller roller coaster.  Grandma was hoping to ride the large ferris wheel and the giant swing tower, but the wind forced them to shut down those particular rides.  Grandpa enjoyed studying on the engineering on the rollercoasters - and there was some serious engineering involved - for a heart stopping ride.  Anna spent the entire day at the park and had a great time.

Cousin Aidyn also stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's on Saturday, so they were able to play together.  The highlight for Saturday was the walkie talkies that Grandma found.  They played with them ALL day, including riding bikes and talking on them (bad driving behavior, even while riding a bike).  Fortunately Grandpa stocked up on batteries to keep them operational.  They had a great time.

Sunday it was back home for all.  A big thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for a great week and trip to Cedar Point.  Anna is already planning her next trip back.
