Happy Halloween!

Scary Anna
Fall is in the air!  Anna has enjoyed some beautiful fall weekends leading up to one of her favorite holidays:  Halloween.  This year she decided to be a witch (minus the hat most of the time).  Theresa also joined in the Halloween festivities with her own costumes.  Once again, Grandma served as costume seamstress for the events.  Joe opted to dress once again as a suburban dad, requiring no special costume.

Anna celebrated Halloween over the last two weeks beginning with a Halloween party at her friend Hannah's house on October 18.  Hannah's parents are incredibly brave, having invited ALL of the third grade girls to their house for a costume party and lots of sugary treats.

The Halloween festivities continued on October 24 for Trunk or Treat at school.  This annual event involves pulling into the school parking lot and decorating your car.  At 7 PM, the kids begin trick-or-treating from car to car, resulting in a MAJOR haul of candy.  Anna had an awesome time with her friends and pulled in plenty of treats.

There was no school for Anna on Halloween, so she joined her friends at Cox Farms for the fall festival.  Joe joined the crowd later for a day full of giant slides, hay rides, and a corn maze, among other things.  Later that afternoon, Anna's friend Aidan and his sister Zoe came over for some pumpkin carving followed by trick-or-treating around the neighborhood.

While Anna was having fun with her friends, Theresa recruited her co-workers to dress up as characters from the Lucy and Ethel chocolate factory scene.  They had a good time roaming the halls of the office trailing chocolates on the floor.  Some folks mistook them for nurses.  One asked if they were distributing Ebola vaccines.  Theresa decided to keep her costume on to go trick-or-treating with Anna; however, it was not the same without Lucy.

In between the Halloween activities, Anna managed to do some pumpkin picking and enjoy the fall weather.  This is Joe's busiest yard work time of the year as leaf raking has begun.  There will be some quality family time with rakes and leaf bags - usually 60-70 bags by our last tally.  So far, we are at 6 bags.

Happy Halloween!
