Happy 40th Anniversary Grandma & Grandpa!

Valentine's Day was extra special for Anna this year.  In addition to parties at school, valentine's from her friends, making heart cookies with Mom, a flower and card from Dad, and lots of other sugary treats, Grandma and Grandma arrived for a visit!

A visit from the grandparents is the equivalent of Christmas for Anna as every day a new surprise seems to emerge from Grandma's suitcase.  This trip was no exception.  Grandma came armed with chocolate for Anna along with a new dress for Easter and assorted toys and books.  Grandpa was not sure there would be enough room in the suitcase for his clothes.

Grandma and Grandpa had a busy weekend.  They spent Valentine's Day touring Capitol Hill with tours of the Capitol, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress.  Friday was a shopping day while Anna was at school.  Saturday they were on the Anna social circuit, where they were able to watch her ice skating lesson and went along to drop her off at the birthday party of the week at an indoor water park.

Sunday they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a brunch where we were joined by Aunt Gayle followed by a concert by the Marine Chamber Orchestra.  Grandpa found the concert particularly relaxing as he was able to catch up on some much needed sleep during the entire concert.  The day concluded with dancing in the living room to some 50s and 60s music where Grandma proved that she can still cut a rug.  Anna was all too happy to demonstrate her dance moves to her grandparents (who knows where she picked some of it up).

Grandma and Grandpa headed back to bitter cold Ohio on Tuesday.  Thanks to all the room in the suitcase, they were able to do a little shopping for themselves and went home with new shoes.  As for Anna, she is going through grandparent withdrawal.  After all, Mom and Dad do not have a daily present for her.  She is already plotting her next visit to see them.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for a nice visit!
