Halloween Supergirl!
Anna celebrated Halloween in super style this year! After agonizing over which princess or fairy to be, she quickly changed her mind when she saw the Supergirl costume glimmering under the lights at Target. Theresa was happy to see her buck the princess peer pressure and trade her wings for a cape. There was some practice flying around the house before the actual costume debut.
Not to be outdone (and to carry on the Kohler tradition), Theresa joined in the festivities by donning a clown costume, courtesy of Anna & Charley. This was quite the conversation piece both at the office and around the neighborhood. As it turned out, one of Theresa's office colleagues was also dressed as a clown, which may be fitting for a bunch of budget folks.
Anna's Halloween celebration began the week before with a costume event with the girls scouts (Theresa chaperoned in costume) Last Friday was trunk-or-treat at school. This involves everyone pulling their mini-vans/SUVs into the parking lot, decorating your trunk (some decorations are pretty elaborate), eating pizza, and trick-or-treating from car to car. Anna had a great time with her friends. There were at least 250 kids and we ran out of candy quickly....again. Needless to say, Anna had a bucket full of candy from that event.
In between events, Frankenstorm blew through. We were able to rake some leaves before the storm hit....while they were still dry. Anna had a great time jumping in the piles. Fortunately, there was no major damage from the storm. Anna and Theresa got a couple of days off. Anna helped decorate pumpkin cookies and assisted Joe with carving the pumpkin. The pumpkin was so big that Joe quickly realized the small knife was not going to do the job. A saw was required!
Finally, it was Halloween. After enjoying parties at school, Anna and Theresa donned their costumes and hit the streets for trick-or-treating. Joe manned the candy on the home front. Anna joined her friend Sarah and they traversed several streets. By the end of the evening, her bucket was full and too heavy to carry. Now that is a successful evening.
The next dilemma is what to do with all of the candy. We'll think of something....
Happy Halloween!
