Happy Thanksgiving!

The holidays are here at last. What better way to kick off the season than with a Kohler Thanksgiving feast in the mountains of Western Maryland. Anna met up with her cousin Aidyn, grandparents and uncles at lovely Deep Creek Lake. The weekend was filled with lots of food (with a major emphasis on pork and cheese) and college football - at least for the adults. Anna and Aidyn had a great time playing together, especially with their trains.

Grandma, as always, had a treasure trove of toys and games to keep the grandchildren entertained. The popular items for this trip included plastic flutes (something that EVERYONE got to enjoy), ball guns (Anna woke up her parents one morning with the line "I've got a gun"), and a beach ball which Anna & Aidyn enjoyed throwing over the loft railing. They had a great time playing together all weekend and were inseparable.

The rental house was lovely, with gorgeous views of the mountains and lake. It also had a lot of stairs, which proved a challenge to the grandparents. Between the two of them, grandma and grandpa fell four times thanks to their bifocals (grandma swears the last fall put her back in place). There were also sufficient tvs, which allowed Uncle Rod & Uncle Tim to watch every televised college football game simultaneously. Of course the big highlight of the weekend was not the Thanksgiving dinner, but the Ohio State victory over Michigan.

In between, we were able to enjoy the state parks and local attractions. Of course the major local attration was the Super WalMart, which Uncle Rod visited 3 times to do his Christmas shopping. One of the more memorable parts of the weekend was when Grandma announced that Anna and Aidyn would get the Christmas gifts and the rest of the family would draw names (Uncle Rod may have shed a tear at the "end of Christmas" for him).

It was a great Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks to Grandma for cooking a great dinner and special thanks to Courtney who was also cooking something for someone the entire weekend.
