Happy Halloween!

Once again, it was a beautiful fall weekend...perfect for Halloween! Anna decided that she wanted to be Cinderella this year. She had plenty of opportunities to wear her costume, thanks to a party at Ms. Be's, a party at pre-school, the neighborhood Halloween parade, and finally trick-or-treating.

Thanks to the nice weather and the falling leaves, the first leaf raking of the season began. Anna was very excited about this and spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning running and jumping in leaf piles that her Dad raked.
Anna also enjoyed carving the pumpkin with her Dad. After drawing several pictures of potential pumpkins that she wanted her Dad to carve, Joe finally convinced her that a more traditional pumpkin would work well. Anna helped draw the face and scoop out the insides while Joe carved the pumpkin.

Anna learned many important lessons about being a princess this weekend. First, accessories are very important. Anna was very excited about her long white gloves and "diamond" earrings (old clip-ons from her great grandmother), which really gave her an edge in the princess costume competition. Mom was also able to do her hair in a princess fashion. The most important lesson she learned was the value of comfortable shoes over style. Anna walked in the Halloween parade wearing her white dress shoes (which also happen to be too small, but matched the dress). By the time trick-or-treating arrived, her heels were too sore for the shoes, thus she wore her crocs. Anna walked in the parade with her friend Sarah, who was wearing a Cinderella bride costume.

Theresa got into the spirit of the Halloween parade and wore a witch costume. Of course she could not be any witch, and since this is Washington she was a witch supporting Christine O'Donnel for U.S. Senate. (Note: for those of you not familiar with Christine O'Donnell, she is the upset tea party candidate for Senate in Delaware. This campaign ad went viral: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxlvPsmEask). Joe decided to attend the parade as a suburban dad.

Happy Halloween!
