1st Snow!

After 2 1/2 years of mild Virginia winters, Anna finally got to experience her first real snow - all 6 inches of it. There are the basic kid things that everyone experiences with snow - sledding, snow angels, being stuffed into snowsuits, etc.... Then there are things that a kid in the greater Washington area experiences.

For those of you who do not live in the Washington DC area, anything over 2 inches of snow is the equivalent of a terrorist attack. Everything shuts down and no one comes out until weather forecasters and other TV personalities assure them that it is in fact safe. Mom got a two hour delay for work (that's right - the government actually could not function on time because of the snow). Mom was able to use her Ohio snow skills and put Anna in the car for a ride to Ms. Be's so that she could go to work. As it turns out, Mom was one of only five people that made it in the office today (that's right - 97% of the staff did not show up because of 6 inches of snow).

After making it home from work, Dad took Anna out into the backyard for a little sledding on the hill. Since we didn't have a sled, Dad improvided with a cardboard boxlid. Unfortunately, Anna did not have a sufficient nap during the day and was only willing to play in the snow for about 10 minutes before she was ready to go back inside.

So much for the snow. Maybe we can try again in another 2 1/2 years.
